The Ant Saga

It started about a month ago....Brian decided to recaulk/regrout the shower in our bathroom. When he started ripping up the old grout, fire ants came pouring into the shower. The next place we found them was in the kitchen. So we decided to have an exterminator come out because it had been awhile since our house had been sprayed. The man came and knew about our ant problem, but supposedly only did the routine spray inside and out ($50). After he left, the ants started showing up in new places. We found them in the kids' bathtub, in the microwave and in our laundry basket. So we called the exterminator again. He said that he would have to do a special fire ant spray ($150) and we would still see ants up to 2 weeks after the spray, but would have a 60 guarantee of no ants. So to prepare for his arrival, we emptied out several cabinets, moved furniture away from all of the baseboards in the house and Brian shampooed all of the carpets. It felt like we were getting ready to move. It was an exhausting experience! So after the exterminator came for the second time, we thought things were looking better until I went to get clean towels out of the linen closet. The towels were covered with ants. So Brian and I had to get all of the towels, sheets and toiletries out of the closet and spray. That was on Sunday, so it's been 3 days and so far we haven't seen anymore ants. We hope it stays that way for a very long time. I still have to wash all of those towels and sheets. I'm not looking forward to it!

Jennifer,

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. I can't wait to see you all later this month. No need to bring the fire ants (ha). I send my love and prayers to all.

Love,
Grandpa Mike
