How to eat a cupcake

This morning we had playgroup and we celebrated Maya's birthday with cupcakes. Hannah didn't eat one then, but I let her have one after dinner tonight. She hasn't had too much experience with cupcakes. At her first birthday, she didn't want anything to do with her cupcake. We went to a birthday party last September and I fed her pieces of the cupcake and she really enjoyed it. She definitely likes cake, she just doesn't always know the best way to eat it. So tonight these are the steps Hannah took eating her cupcake:
1. bite into the cupcake, frosting side first
2. stare at the cupcake
3. stare some more at the cupcake
4. take a bite, this time getting some of the actual cake part
5-10 ask to have your hands cleaned because of all the frosting on them
She ended up not finishing the cupcake because it was just taking way too long. :D

Well, now you know a good activity to try when you need a minute (or several) to yourself. Give her a cupcake and let her finish it. You'll probably have a huge crumb mess to clean up, but trust me it is worth it! And in no time she'll inhale them like my kids do and then you'll wish it took a little longer to eat a cupcake. Too cute!

mmm cupcakes.
i'm never sure how to eat 'em either - but it's worth the confusion! and at least she went for the frosting first. i don't trust people who eat the bottom and then the top.
