Strange morning at the mall

This morning I met some friends at the mall so that the kids could play on the indoor playground. I was running late, so my friend Kristi called me to let me know that the play area was under construction and where to meet her instead. We found each other and stood by some benches to talk while some of the kids played there. We decided to go to another part of the mall that has some kind of video display on the floor to keep the kids entertained. Right near there, we started smelling something strong and seeing smoke. It was coming from a vent on the floor. We saw a maintenance man and he called someone on his walkie. We also saw a mall security guard, but he was too busy getting a snack at the cookie stand to notice what was going on. A few minutes went by and two of the maintenance men went running. We thought we better get out of here too. We walked away from the chaos and went into Build a Bear. After being in the store for about 10 minutes, we go out into the mall area and we could see the smoke and it smelled even worse. Of course I had parked on that side of the mall, so my friend Trish gave me a ride to my car. So that was the extent of our playgroup this morning.
